LEGENDS IN LEADERSHIP SERIES

The Legends in Leadership Series is a cornerstone initiative of Legends Fest, designed to foster civic engagement and leadership skills among young individuals. Through this series, we introduce students to the mechanics of local governance and community decision-making.

  • Council and School Board Meetings: Students are brought to St. James Parish council and school board meetings, providing them firsthand experience with the democratic process. This exposure helps demystify governance and highlights the importance of civic participation.

    Mentorship and Discussion: Post-meeting discussions encourage students to express their thoughts on the proceedings and discuss the impact of decisions made on their community. This not only enhances their critical thinking but also boosts their communication skills.

LEGENDS FEST FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Legends Fest Foundation Scholarship Program provides financial support and mentorship to young students who have shown exceptional dedication and potential in their areas of interest. Launched in 2024, the initiative focuses on nurturing these talents from an early age, encouraging students to develop and pursue their passions.

Scope and Recipients: Five scholarships were awarded to proactive sixth graders at Sixth Ward Elementary. These students stood out due to their active participation in various Legends Fest initiatives and their demonstrated ability in recognizing and developing their unique talents.

Goals and Impact:

  • Encouragement of Young Talents: The scholarships aim to affirm and support the students' chosen paths, reinforcing their commitment to their gifts and talents.

  • Creating Sustainable Pathways: By providing financial support, the program helps students access necessary resources to further their skills, whether through purchasing equipment, materials, or attending workshops relevant to their interests.

  • Empowering Future Leaders: These scholarships not only assist in the immediate development of skills but also lay the groundwork for long-term personal and professional growth, positioning students to become future leaders in their fields.

Funding and Future Plans:

A total of $1,000 was distributed among the recipients, with each scholarship valued at $200. The foundation is committed to expanding the reach and impact of the scholarship program in the coming years, aiming to increase both the number of recipients and the amount of financial aid provided.
